Two of our Tampa Bay’s favorite beaches are accessible only
by boat. Shell
Key and Egmont
Key are among the last remaining undeveloped
barrier islands left in the Gulf of Mexico. We offer public boat trips
to both of these unspoiled tropical islands.
Shell Key is a pristine barrier island with one of the densest shorebird
nesting populations in the United States, providing an ideal habitat
for more than 100 species of nesting, migrating and wintering birds.
As the name implies, the island is also ripe with shells, which roll
up from the warm water onto pure white sand. Bring a picnic basket and
enjoy the unspoiled beach or the quiet lagoon behind the island.
Egmont
Key State Park has some of the most beautiful waters available
in the Tampa Bay area. The entire island is a wildlife refuge, where
dozens of species of birds, Turtles & Tortoises make their home.
Visit
one of America’s last working lighthouses built in
1848 and tour the gun batteries of Fort
Dade, built during the Spanish
American War. Go snorkeling near Dade’s sunken ruins then relax
on Egmont’s sugar white beaches and collect shells along Egmont's
secluded palm lined waters.
You'll want your camera along for both of these trips!
